GEOMETRY is a common core content. Common core content means it touches K-12 students.

The State expected 4th grade students to have early exposure to the concept of geometric relationship of shape. Geometry teaches student how to reason and justify their solution. Like for example the shape below looks different but geometry teaches you they have the same calculated area. Geometry also gives student the opportunity to develop their communication skills explaining why the two shapes have not the same perimeter, have not the same count of sides, and have not the same count of vertices. As you can see from the shapes, student must learn to gather definition of word or term like the word "side" , the word "perimeter", and the word "vertices".
