GEOMETERY is a common core content. Common core content means it touches K-12 students.

The State expected High School student to determine the new coordinates of a point when a single transformation is performed on a 2-dimensional figure. Student must learn how to describe shape transformation by reflections, translations, rotation, and dilation. Geometry teaches student how to reason and justify their solution.

GEOMETERY knowledge is important in visualizing solution to problem using geometric relationship and spatial reasoning. Geometry class gives student a training in communication both verbal and in writing to share their ideas about theorem, identities, similarities, congruent, properties of shapes and describing transformation of shapes. It prepares student to learn how to present their idea to be clear and convincing by presenting their solid proof, arguments and rationales.
