So what is the definition on how to compute the tangent theta value? First you must remember the unit of measurement of angle theta is in degree. Then you need the information value for the opposite side and finally you need the information value for adjacent side. For example in this problem, you have given the value for the opposite side which is 200 ft. You also have the given information value for the angle in degree which is 15 degree. Now you can calculate the adjacent side.
