NUMBER AND OPERATION is a common core content. Common core content means it touches K-12 students.
The State expected the 4th grade student to demonstrate their understanding on how to represent fraction. For example fraction can be represented by using shaded rectangle. Student should now realize that shading of rectangle can represent mathematical ideas of equal sharing in fraction.
