NUMBERS AND OPERATION is a common core content. Common core content means it touches K-12 students.
The State expected 5th grade student to master division of five digit numbers. This is also a good transition to learning Algebra, this stage is called Pre-Algebra, Why? Because the student are now ask to find the unknown solution to the equation. Student now beginning to understand that the division skill they learn are important in solving equation. The teacher can start introducing the letter X to represent the unknown solution to the division problem. Algebraic equation is a short statement describing the pattern, association, relationship and general equation or theory.
Algebra skill is needed in coding like in expert system supervised machine learning algorithm using software like MATLAB, Python, R, Javascript, C, and C++. This skill is most likely to be used in Excel spreadsheet or similar spreadsheet software.
